KID Fights Unsafe Products
Linda Ginzel
Chicago, Illinois

Linda Ginzel and her husband, Boaz, lost their 16-month-old son Danny while he was at a licensed childcare home, where a Playskool Travel-Lite portable crib collapsed around his neck and strangled him to death.

In response to their personal tragedy, Linda and Boaz created Kids In Danger (KID). KID is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children through education, advocacy and promotion of the development of safer children's products. Through KID, Linda and Boaz have educated millions of parents and caregivers about the dangers of unsafe and recalled children's products. They established state legislation making it illegal to sell and lease a recalled product and prohibiting dangerous products in childcare facilities. They have also initiated federal legislation that would require safety testing for durable children's products such as portable cribs, high chairs, and strollers.

Through KID, Linda and Boaz have reached millions of parents and caregivers nationwide with their URGENT safety message, working first in Illinois to pass legislation that protects children from dangerous products. "The Children's Product Safety Act" is now law in seven states.

Linda and Boaz used their personal savings to establish KID and continue to work hard raising the money it takes to accomplish KID's mission (please visit http://www.KidsInDanger.org for more information). Linda and Boaz have truly transformed their personal grief into a vital movement for social change. All our children are safer now because of the work they do in memory of their son.
