Timothy Jaccard was only doing his job when he came across something that would change his life forever. Back in 1997, Tim was called to District Court in Hempstead, N.Y., to remove the body of a deceased and discarded full-term infant from a toilet. After fulfilling this duty, Tim as very moved, and adopted the baby in order to give her a proper burial.
After this experience, Timothy realized the need to stop infant abandonment on a larger scale, and he founded a charity called the AMT Chilren of Hope. The organization’s missions are to bury abandoned deceased infants and to counsel pregnant women in crisis.
Timothy has been instrumental in establishing baby “safe havens” where women can give up their babies and not fear repercussions. As a result, he has saved the lives of countless infants. Timothy He does not receive any compensation for these efforts, and still works his schedule as a full time paramedic – a job he has held for 29 years.
Never one to accept defeat, Tim has used a great deal of his own money to save these babies and the young women who bear them. He has taken his quest nationwide and lobbied for legislation in almost every state in order to make it easier for women in crisis to get help for themselves and their babies without the fear of prosecution.
