Dr. Robert Desnick has helped hundreds of patients overcome a variety of serious and rare diseases since the 1970s.
In particular, Dr. Desnicks strides in researching a medical condition called Fabry Disease, a fat storage disorder involved in the biodegradation of lipids.
Dr. Desnick has dedicated more than 30 years of his life researching Fabry disease, a disorder so rare that most physicians have never even heard of it. He pursued an area of research so obscure that financial motives were impossible. His motive was compassion for people languishing from an excruciating disorder.
Dr. Desnick also has been instrumental in successfully treating another terminal disorder called Gaucher's Disease. Today he is involved in experimental gene therapies for other rare disorders, such as Niemann-Pick B disease and a group of diseases known as porphyrias.
