Bruce Bailey showed his heroism after a series of tornadoes ripped through Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee in May 2003.
As volunteer chairman of Missouri Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Bruce helped coordinate the recovery efforts, helping people rebuild their homes and recover many of the mementos they thought were lost.
He was there to help others grieve, and helped them get on with their lives.
Since the tornadoes, Bruce and AmeriCorps volunteers have been hailed for the role they played in disaster relief and in returning the communities back to some semblance of reality.
