Heather is an R.N. who used to be a trauma nurse. Health issues forced her to leave the work she loved. So, to compensate for her loss of work, she put her energies into developing a free health clinic to serve the people in our community and surrounding areas. The clinic now has a clientele of approximately 600 patients and recently moved to a larger area.
Heather singlehandedly developed all the procedures and found all the grant money and community donations to start the clinic. She has spent the last two years devoting all of her time to make the clinic a success so uninsured, unemployed and impoverished people can receive the medicines that improve the quality of their lives -- or, in some cases, keep them alive.
At the clinic, Heather not only provides medical assistance, but spiritual assistance as well. She makes sure she schedules bible studies, free haircuts, and other services for the patients. She comes in on holidays to see patients or refill medications, and gives patients her home phone number in case they need her beyond clinic hours.
Heather goes way beyond the call of duty every day. I think she deserves many awards for her unselfishness and dedication to improving peoples lives.
