Helping Hands, Touching Lives
Nadia Campbell
New York, New York

Nadia Campbell is a 20-year-old humanitarian who has been volunteering since she was eleven years old. At the tender age of eleven, she saw that there was a void in the community between teens and senior citizens.

Nadia felt that both populations could learn something from each other. That's how The Helping Hands Club was born. Nadia started to recruit volunteers from her Junior High School to visit nursing homes on Sundays. Nadia personally visited all 236 residents of the Sheepshead Bay Nursing Home, weekly. In 1998 the club was renamed, “The Victorian Hands Foundation,” in honor of her late aunt Victoria.

Currently, TVHF recruits and trains teen & adult volunteers to provide voluntary companionship for and interaction with the residents of Nursing Homes.

Nadia has always been active in community associations and events, as well other organizations. Nadia is the glue that holds her family together, even through several unexpected & tragic events. Nadia Campbell has touched the lives of over 5,000 senior citizens, supporters, and volunteers in her nine years of unselfish service and dedication to our forgotten population.
