Hank Aaron is known as one of the greatest baseball players in history. For thirty-three years he was Major League Baseball's leading career home run hitter with 755 home runs and most runs batted in. On May 17, 1970, Aaron became the first player to compile both 3,000 career hits and more than 500 home runs.
After retiring, Aaron worked as the Atlanta Braves' Director of Player Development and today serves as the team’s Senior Vice President. In addition, he is Vice President of Business Development for the CNN Airport Network. Aaron is also a long-time Church’s and Popeye’s restaurant franchisee and operates a Krispy Kreme franchise in the Atlanta area.
Aaron sits on the board of Value City Department Stores, Inc., as well as the Atlanta Technical Institute, Ports Authority of Georgia, and the Atlanta Braves. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Governors for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. With his wife Billye, he founded the “Chasing the Dream Foundation”, which provides monetary awards to help children pursue their talents. His many honors and awards include twenty-four All-Star Game appearances, election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982, the Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Bush, and the Presidential Citizens Medal, awarded by President Clinton.
