Executive. Philanthropist. Hero.
Edsel B. Ford II

A great-grandson of the founder of Ford Motor Company, Edsel B. Ford II is today a leading contributor to a number of charitable and community organizations. Among other positions, he has served on the board of the Skillman Foundation and as Chairman of the National Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and the Detroit 300 Conservancy.

In his committed involvement to a variety of civic organizations Ford is continuing the legacy of his family: his father, Henry Ford II, was a leader in the development of the United Way and the Renaissance Center in Detroit, while his grandfather, Edsel Ford, served as the city’s Arts Commissioner. Notwithstanding substantial business obligations, he has always made a point of giving back to the community and has been particularly focused on encouraging other business executives to be more active in contributing their personal time – not just money – to benefit others.

In addition to his important charitable work, Ford has held numerous positions over his twenty-five year career at Ford Motor Company where he currently serves as a Member of the Board. In 1991, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Ford Motor Credit and became a company vice president two years later. He is additionally a former Chairman of the Board of the Detroit branch of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank. In 2001, Ford was named Michiganian of the Year for his extensive philanthropic work. He is a graduate of Babson College and the Harvard Business School.
